WEST TEXAS
KYOKUSHIN
Sensei Stephen Hood
Sensei Hood started his martial arts training in judo in 1967 however the training lasted only a short time because the instructor was transferred (also a military man). He continued his training (in Isshinryu) while on active duty in the US Marines on Okinawa in 1973. When he left he was instructed to continue training. On his return to his home in Abilene, there was no Isshinryu in which to continue and his search took him to Sensei Krupa. Impressed with the straight forward attitude of Sensei Krupa and the basic no nonsense fighting style of Kyokushin, Sensei Hood started his training in 1978. Aside from Dan rankings in Karate, his training has included Akido, Aiki-Jujitsu and Acupressure Healing.
